Changing a beneficiary who has died

I have E and EE bonds and my beneficiary printed on them has died. I would like to change this person to another person. Do I have to provide a death certificate?   Tom's response It's different for the two series. With EE bonds, you can change the beneficiary without the permission of an existing beneficiary; with E bonds you need permission. Since your existing beneficiary has died, you need to provide a copy of the Death Certificate to change the beneficiary on the Series E Savings Bonds, but not on the Series EE bonds.
